Statement on March 9th

Statement on the incident of kidnapping three Japanese in Iraq

An unknown group called gMujahedeen Brigadesh kidnapped three Japanese civilians on March 8th, and gave Japan three days to withdraw the SDF troops from Iraq before hostages would be killed. The three hostages include a family member of our union member of Hokkaido Federation of Medical Workersf Unions. We condemn this barbarous act threatening by taking civilians hostage.

We demand the Japanese government to make every possible effort for the release of these three hostages and their safety.

We have expressed our apprehensions that this kind of serious situation should be caused by the occupation by the US and UK led allied forces and the deployment of SDF in corporation with them. We urge the Government to withdraw the SDF troops from Iraq immediately.
